Customer slams McDonald’s as ‘No longer affordable’ after sharing receipt for his regular order

A TikTok user criticized McDonald’s for raising their prices to the point where it is no longer affordable.

The man was shocked to learn that his usual order of a Smoky Double Quarter Pounder BLT burger, large fries, and Sprite at the fast food chain restaurant cost him more than $16.

Because of the recent sharp inflation, living expenses have increased significantly in the USA and most of the world.

Sadly, even the once-affordable takeout options have increased in price, so Americans can no longer count on getting cheap McDonald’s meals.

A few years ago, this meal—which he now pays over $16 for—cost $10 or even less, according to Christopher Olive, the creator of the TikTok post that went viral and attracted a lot of attention.

He states in the video: “I understand that there is a labor shortage, that wages are rising, and a lot of other things, but sixteen dollars?

“Sixteen dollars for a burger, a large fries and a drink. It’s just crazy.”

The online community has watched the video nearly 180,000 times and left thousands of comments. The majority of users think it’s outrageous to pay $16.10 for a drink, some fries, and a burger.

“Five Guys prices at McDonald’s?!?” someone commented, to what Christopher replied, “It’s crazy.”

Another said: “It’s officially not convenient or affordable anymore, might as well go to the store and buy hamburger meat.”

“I make a lot more of my own food these days because of stuff like this,” added a third, with the TikToker replying: “Exactly. I eat 90 percent from food I cook and this really shocked me.”

On the other hand, some argue that we must remember that growing expenses affect the whole supply chain. They also claim that Christopher chose the priciest dish on the menu.

“Bro ordered the most expensive meal they have and acted surprised,” wrote one, while another said: “Because you got DOUBLE DELUXE BACON quarter pounder, literally the most expensive option on the entire menu.”

Additionally, some people offered tips on how to save money when dining at McDonald’s.

“Download the app. You can literally eat McDonald’s for under $6 every time.”

A second chimed in: “Use the McDonald’s app, sometimes they have a 50% off and other offers.”
