Dolly Parton criticized for looking “cheap” and “ugly” – but she’s hit back

Dolly Parton has enjoyed a lengthy and incredibly successful career in the public eye.

The talented vocalist has been a mainstay at the top of the entertainment business for as long as most of us can remember, transcending decades and fashions with her gifts.

However, even someone as legendary as her is compelled to respond to her detractors. According to reports, a number of them have been active recently, criticizing her appearance despite the fact that she is getting close to eighty years old.

Although she has performed and sang for the majority of her life, the Tennessee native has grown to be nothing short of a legend and she has loved to amuse her hordes of followers.

In a recent interview with Pollystar, Dolly Parton stated why she will stop traveling. She clarified:

“I’ll do special shows here and there, now and then. Maybe do a long weekend of shows, or just a few shows at a festival. But I have no intention of going on a full-blown tour anymore.”

Dolly Parton, who overcame a difficult upbringing in the Appalachian Mountains to become one of the biggest names in entertainment, will undoubtedly be missed on stage.

Although her popularity is unquestionable, she nevertheless receives criticism for her appearance.

In fact, it seems that her appearance has been a source of contention nearly from the beginning of her career. Dolly even remembered hearing in the past that she should give up her characteristic style if she ever wanted a meaningful job.

“The main advice that people want to give me was to change my look – to go simpler with my hair and the way that I dress,” she explained,

“Not to look so cheap, nobody was ever going to take me seriously, they would say.”

Over the years, the mean comments haven’t gone away. If anything, some people feel even more vindicated in labeling Dolly in ways that seem wholly unfair.

One Twitter user wrote: “Dolly Parton is One ugly lady,” while another said: “Dolly Parton is so ugly, but she got nice breasts.”

Dolly, despite all the hate and slander she receives online, doesn’t seem to be deterred by it. She is not about to change for anyone because she is completely at ease with her physique and appearance.

“It costs a lot of money to look this cheap,” she once famously said.

As for husband, the country icon has revealed in the past that he loves her no matter what.

“He doesn’t care if I’m fat,” said Parton.

“He was never turned off. He’s fool enough to think I’m the sexiest, prettiest woman in the world.”

Dolly continues to be hungry for success and new challenges, which is perhaps not unexpected. According to Rolling Stone, she is prepared to accept her induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2022 and wants to celebrate it by releasing an album that some may view as being outside of her comfort zone.

Last year, when it became clear that Dolly Parton was up for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a result of her illustrious career, fans were ecstatic.
However, if sources are to be believed, the diva herself was first hesitant to be considered for the award. The Jolene singer reportedly believed that since country music has dominated most of her career, other genres would be more appealing to listeners.

In the end, however, the people spoke, and voters decided that Dolly did belong there. In November, she was inducted into the Hall of Fame, and immediately set about trying to ensure that her selection was justified.

I don’t care what anyone says, I think Dolly Parton is so talented!
